Weekly Review #2

On Tuesday 13th of March 2018, we visited Pitt Rivers, Oxford to find inspiration for our stage 3 project and to gather any information that we can find, which will influence our project and ideas. The museum was very inspiring and I enjoyed looking at the Egyptian artefacts, shrunken heads and totem poles however, I couldn't find much to inspire my childbirth idea. I found some information of how women are treated in other countries and how they are expected to behave such as; getting married at a young age, foot binding, elongating the neck by wearing coils and wearing corsets to reshape the waist. Visiting Pitt Rivers has helped progress my idea because, I know now that I want to continue with my childbirth idea and I feel like I can now conduct a lot of research on this topic and hopefully find textile artists that will influence my work. In these next few weeks I want to start attending life drawing lessons, so I can get drawings created from primary sources and I want to start experimenting, drawing and documenting my research in my sketchbook.
