Riverfront Gallery Visit

My Exhibition Space

I have recently visited the Riverfront, with my classmates, to view the space and decide how we are going to exhibit our work. Visiting the Riverfront was really helpful as I was able to make changes to my piece before exhibiting it. For example, I cut my piece too short and I should have left an inch of fabric around my piece so that I could mount it. Instead I now have to stitch my piece onto a canvas so that I can easily mount it. There was some minor complications when we were discussing how we wanted to exhibit our work as were not allowed to hang anything from the lights and only light work can be tacked to the ceiling. We also weren't allowed to have anything blocking the fire doors or on the wooden floor. This meant that whoever needed to hang their work had to go in the corner and no one could block the fire door with their piece. I really like the space I picked because, it is directly in the centre of the room and as the lights are adjustable, I wanted red lighting on my piece and this will hopefully attract attention to it. I also like that I have a little alcove at the end of my wall, so I can hang my eight embroidery hoops on them.
